Saturday Live Stream Classes
today i'll be live streaming our saturday SK8SHOT beginner classes happening at 1 and 2 p.m . i’ll also be posting the recordings for anyone interested it’ll be in the classroom sometime next week. If y’all are tuning in then this will probably happen weekly😁

@Angela McAllister What you said applies to me too, I skate outdoors, and now I have a collection of skates and wheels. Lots of welcomes to JJ but no response... that fail didn't take long, but at least we tried.

What quick tips do you give to baby skaters?
So I'm often flanked by younger baby skaters when at the rink asking to teach them tricks while they can barely stand without a skatemate. I'd like to be a good skate community steward and help a person on their new skate journey AND I politely don't want to talk to anybody 🤣(I'm getting better at that 😅). Don't want to just tell them to work on balance and hand them a dinosaur. I'm trying to be in and out with this helpfulness so they have a few nuggets to work on while I'm trying to work on whatever. Last night I taught a wee teen about the penguin, bending knees, and holding on to something while working on one foot balance, oh and safety gear. Missed opportunity to give her a glow in the dark dinosaur tho 🦖😄 Curious as to what helpful sound bites y'all give in this situation or ones that have helped you?

@Eden Perez Yes, I think many beginners do assume skating is just similar to walking, so they don't respect that it takes skills they have to adopt, then they fall, get hurt and quit. I've seen those types go on little crusades to discourage others from joining this sport. So, it's good to apprise beginners of the reality that this is a learning experience, and to stick with it long enough to enjoy it.

Back with another one!
Hey all. It’s been a minute! Work has been kicking my ass! I haven’t been practicing much as I want to but today I made it a point to not only get on my skates but to record some of it. I practiced one leg balance skills, crossovers, open/closed book transitions (still struggling here) and what I THINK are backward crossovers (vide attached so you tell me). As usual I bring for your personal entertainment, my awkward and horrible skating! Don’t go too hard on the kid though. This was my first time practicing this technique. 😩
