FMCSA article regarding authority.
Hey Everyone, What are your thoughts on the article published by the FMCSA on Friday regarding the buying or leasing of mature authority? I’ve always been curious about how that process actually works, and it’s also been a concern of mine that someone could potentially use an authority without the owner’s knowledge. I’d be interested in hearing everyone’s perspective on this.

I believe we needed to swing the pendulum in the other direction because it has been way too easy to purchase in recent years. Safety and security has to be front & center in today's day and age.
Goldilocks of Freight 2025
The largest brokerage in the United States reported $17.7 billion dollars in revenue at a 30.5 gross margin. That means roughly a $5 Billion spread. They collected 17.7 Billion from Shippers then turned around and paid Carriers about $12 Billion So Did they overcharge shippers? Or Underpay carriers? Or are the numbers just right?

Seems odd that their margins were that high. Perhaps their margins are helped by managed trans and specialty services vs straight truckload?

@Steven Tittle As someone who had them as a carrier with a customer I can say that their service and AI bidding were both terribly bad
2026 Change
What will be the biggest CHANGES this year in Freight Transportation?

The industry will improve along with rates. Don't ask me to say when that stabilizes but I think they will. There will continue to be less drivers on the road who do not meet federal guidelines. Our opinion on the matter isn't relevant and this is not a political response, just reality of what is goin to continue. I also think that as the government digs into the fraud deeper, there will be trucking companies caught up in it. I'm not as sure about that one but I believe it is likely.

As a traveler (not a truck driver) I like Loves most of the time.
Remote work
How many of you work remotely? I travel year round for work. Every now and then my remote work takes me to Waikīkī. Not a bad location to sling freight. lol #PapaFreight

I have worked remote for the last four years. My goal is to stay that way as I now work for myself. Do I enjoy working in an office? Yes, when I choose to. It's great for a day or so. Then it becomes counter productive for me. Waikiki is a great place to do it! Jealous!
