Feature requests?
Hey guys, wanted to get some thoughts on how we could make this group (both free and paid membership) even better value for everyone. Post your ideas/requests below, and drop a like on the requests you like the most! Some prompts: - What could we START doing that we’re not already doing? - What could we do MORE of? - What features would you like to see added? - What do you get the most value from right now, and how could we make it even better? Obviously can’t make any promises in terms of following through on every suggestion, but I can promise that your suggestions will all be considered and we heavily weight user feedback when thinking about improvements.

@Hunter Campbell or if you don’t want to provide the slide decks, then more text notes of the key elements. I find that some of the strongest material on the courses is the ‘Learning to learn’ sections. I’d like the course material to really build on that in terms of student resources.

@John Lardinois I agree. The point is to understand what you are doing, not just to do it because that is what everyone else does. And I agree totally that you want to practice on as wide a variety of material as possible, but at the start of your journey you need to be able to hear the things your instructors do just so you know what’s going on. It’s the difference between someone just giving you directions and someone sitting next to you giving you guidance. Without the latter you’re not learning nearly as much.
Measurement Software?
All, having invested in sound treatment-solid speakers etc is the final step to calibrate the room using a measurement mic and some hardware / software or is it a waste of time and money ?

@Shaun Fothergill I suspect if you have successfully treated your room, you will benefit from two types of software treatment. First a speaker correction on (like ARC or SoundID) which will ensure that your speaker are providing as flat a sound as possible at your listening position. Second an ‘ear correction’ one like Hears Perfection. This will correct for your own individual hearing ie it will be the difference between what a reference mic hears and what your ears hear at your listening position. Because even if your speakers produce the flattest response ever, that’s not helpful when your ears can’t hear 15kHz that well.

@Lindy Botha If you are struggling with hearing compression, first you are not alone, a lot of compression work is far more subtle than we imagine. Ear training will help as much as understanding what the various knobs do. Ultimately there is almost no point in using a compressor if you don't know why you are using it and you can't hear the changes in any case.
Starting My New Journey: 2 Plugins Per Week | 8 Plugins Per Month | 96 Plugins Per Year
I finally did an inventory of all the plugins I own… and the number is around 300 🤯 But they are useless if I don’t truly know them. So I’m starting a long-term journey of studying and testing each plugin, beginning with the most important ones. My plan: - 2 plugins per week - 3 days study per plugin - at least 1 hour each day - Sunday review of both plugins That means 8 plugins per month and so 96 plugins per year. I’m committing to some understanding how each plugins shapes tone, dynamics, color, and workflow. It’s going to take time and patience. But honestly… there’s no other way. Is there? Gotta do it!
