I don't use Zoom but I use Fireflies to record and provide summaries of meetings. Moving to zoom is on my to do list.
📉 Botkeeper has closed — here’s why it matters
Botkeeper — one of the earliest, most visible AI-driven bookkeeping solutions — has announced it is shutting down after more than a decade of innovation. The founder shared that despite building powerful automation and a sophisticated platform, the company ultimately couldn’t achieve a sustainable product-market fit in a market that shifted faster than its capital runway allowed. This closure has sparked a lot of conversation across the industry about the reality of AI in accounting… and what it really takes to build, scale and sustain AI products in practice. Here’s what’s significant: 1. Innovation doesn’t guarantee longevity Botkeeper pioneered the automation of bookkeeping long before many others. They pushed the profession forward, showed what’s possible, and inspired many tools and workflows firms now use. But being first doesn’t always mean you can maintain growth — market timing, pricing, and capital all matter just as much as technology. 2. AI products still need strong product-market fit You can have cutting-edge ML models and automation… but if the firm doesn’t match what real users are ready to adopt today — at scale — that becomes a commercial challenge. This is a reminder that AI alone isn’t the business model — solving real operational problems consistently is. 3. External forces can accelerate outcomes Botkeeper pointed to rapid industry consolidation and macro shifts that impacted revenues and growth plans. The broader AI and tech landscape is also seeing layoffs and cost pressures in areas like model evaluation and infrastructure roles — another sign the industry is still finding its equilibrium. 4. The legacy lives on in firms and tools Even with Botkeeper closing, many firms and vendors continue leveraging the automation and AI learnings it helped pioneer. The idea of AI-powered bookkeeping and advisory is now foundational — it’s the implementation and sustainability that will differentiate winners from losers.

I have been keeping my eyes on Digits accounting software as a possibility to move from QBO.

@Shelly Phillips That's great to hear! I'm waiting to get through year end then will be looking to partner with them and move some clients. Been waiting for them to roll out projects as a lot of my clients need projects for grant tracking and/or job costing. Have you partnered with them & are you liking it so far?
Have you tried the new Apps feature in ChatGPT yet?
OpenAI recently rolled out a new feature called Apps… and you’ll now see a dedicated section for it in the left-hand menu of ChatGPT. But the big question is…Is this going to be useful for us in practice? Or is it just another passing gimmick? Here’s why I’m asking… 🧩 You can now connect ChatGPT with tools like Airtable, Canva, Replit, and even Spotify, Apple Music, and TripAdvisor 🧪 It replaces the old Plugin system (remember that mess?)—and looks more promising 🤔 But personally, I’m still a bit sceptical... so I’d love your thoughts! 👇 Watch the video below, and then tell me in the comments: • Have you started using Apps inside ChatGPT? • Which ones are you using (business or personal)? • Do you see this being useful long-term? Let’s share what’s working… and what’s not.I’d love to learn from your experience.

My initial thought is I wonder if it would be helpful in creating brochures & other marketing materials in Canva.
Intuit just signed a $100M deal with OpenAI… here's why that matters for accountants
Big news: Intuit (the company behind QuickBooks, TurboTax, and Mailchimp) has partnered with OpenAI to deeply integrate AI into their product ecosystem. This means apps like QuickBooks will soon be able to connect directly to ChatGPT. So, what does that mean for us in the accounting space? 🧠 AI-powered workflows are about to get much more practical inside tools we already use 💬 Client conversations, forecasting, and compliance could soon include real-time GPT guidance 💻 ChatGPT connectors to QuickBooks may reshape how we do reconciliations, reports, and insights 💡 Opportunity for firms who understand AI first—before clients do it themselves And one big thought: If this becomes mainstream, how will your firm differentiate itself? I’d love to know… 👉 Are you using any GPT integrations or AI tools inside accounting platforms yet? 👉 How do you see this shift impacting your work? Drop your thoughts in the comments 👇 (And if you want to read more, here’s the original article: TechCrunch link)

We started using AI but I wouldn't say inside our accounting platforms. Currently, the AI inside of QBO is not working well, in my opinion. It has caused more clean up work than good. But I am going to continue to learn how to use AI so we don't get left behind. We are shifting our focus to QBO set up, app integrations, training, consulting & advisory work in addition to bookkeeping.

@Emmanuel Ramos I agree 100% that our profession is built on relationships.
😲 This Is Crazy
Did you know that you currently can’t change your email address inside ChatGPT? Have you thought about the consequences? For example: - If you’re on a Team plan and someone joins with their work email, they can’t take their account with them if they leave later. - If you’re rebranding your business and want to update your email, you can’t change it to your new business address. - And if you use ChatGPT for both personal and business, should you consider having two separate accounts to keep things organised? 👉 I’d love to hear your thoughts on this — how do you think OpenAI should handle it? I have a ChatGPT business plan but I might think about a separate one for personal. 🤔
