Saturday Thoughts about DOPamine 🧠
This crossed my mind today 👇 DOPamine: The One You’re Feeding Is The One That's Winning But first... my request of Tim Cook Dear Apple... Please bring back the iPod. Not for nostalgia sake, but so our kids and grandkids can experience music without the dopamine traps, browsers, and infinite scroll attached. I mean, it's not like we are being ridiculous and suggesting records and eight tracks or anything. Signed, Concerned Parent & Grandparent ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Because here’s the truth: Dopamine isn’t the problem It’s the source. I saw this play out recently while integrating an AI Business Coaching Dojo into my own workflow at Point 8 Business Solutions. What was supposed to be an hour turned into four. Locked in, building, refining, thinking. That’s when it clicked... Dopamine can build your life OR quietly dismantle it. 👉 Dopamine DRAINS: 🚫 Mindless scrolling 🚫 Junk inputs (food, content, noise) 🚫 Binge cycles that blur time 🚫 Constant distraction disguised as “relaxation” 👉 Dopamine DRIVERS: ✅ Building something that matters ✅ Executing on goals that stretch you ✅ Creating, writing, solving ✅ Strengthening real relationships ✅ Training your body, sharpening your mind ✅ Getting outside, being present, actually living Same brain. Same chemical. 💥Completely different outcome. Most people aren’t lacking discipline, they’re overexposed to the wrong dopamine. Track it for a week. Shift the inputs. Watch what happens. And yeah... as Socrates says: All things in moderation... including moderation But if we’re being honest about it: Most people need more intention rather than moderation.

🐕 Ever heard of Kukur Tihar?
It’s one of the most heartwarming days from the Hindu festival of Tihar, celebrated in Nepal — where dogs are honored for their loyalty, love, and role as protectors. On this day, dogs (yes, ALL dogs — pets, strays, working dogs) are: ✨ Given flower garlands ✨ Marked with a ceremonial tika ✨ Fed delicious meals ✨ Celebrated like the legends they are Honestly… it’s incredible. But it also got me thinking... We dedicate ONE day to celebrating the unconditional love, loyalty, and protection dogs give us 365 days a year? Feels a little… underwhelming. Don’t get me wrong — I’m glad they do it. It’s beautiful. It’s meaningful. And it says a lot about the culture. But maybe the real takeaway isn’t just to celebrate dogs... It’s to treat them with that same level of respect, care, and appreciation every single day. Because if you’ve ever had a dog...you know: They don’t give you their love one day a year. They give it to you EVERY day. 👇 Let’s talk about it: If dogs had a vote... what would they choose? 🐶 A single day of celebration ❤️ Or daily love, care, and appreciation What do you say @Shannon Koss @Maren Bruun Drop your vote below ⬇️

@Sarah Geelan EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
My network built my design business.
How much of your business came from people you already knew? I'm genuinely curious how common this actually is.

@Maren Bruun I love that you have a good mix of both. Word of mouth is excellent and shows how much your clients like what you do and how you do it...but it's not a stategy. Adding in Google, SMM and newsletter ads is a strategy. Bravo for taking both approaches.
Upgrade Your Circle. Upgrade Your Life.
Let’s stop dressing this up. If you’re in a room where: No one is pushing you... No one is calling you out... No one is operating at a higher level than you... You’re not in a growth environment, You're in a comfort zone with better branding. And comfort zones don’t produce elite outcomes. Stop saying OK to average! Having a Point 8 Mindset isn’t about “trying harder.” It’s about who you’re in proximity to on a daily basis. Because when you’re in the right room: 💥Your excuses don’t survive 💥Your standards get exposed 💥Your pace gets challenged You don’t have to find motivation… You get pulled forward by the standard. That’s the difference. Average rooms normalize hesitation. Point 8 rooms normalize execution. Average rooms talk about what they’re going to do. Point 8 rooms are already moving. So if you feel stuck, plateaued, or like you’re spinning... Good. That’s your signal. Not that something is wrong with you... But that you’ve outgrown your current environment. And here’s the truth most won’t say: At some point, staying in the wrong room becomes a decision. So decide. Are you going to keep adjusting your goals to fit your environment... Or finally upgrade your environment to match your goals? 👇 Where are you right now? Be honest.

Waking Up From Autopilot - Grand Designs
Point 8 Mindset Series: The Soundtrack of Reinvention — Grand Designs Awareness ➡️ Disruption ➡️ Adaptation ➡️ Alignment ➡️ Momentum ➡️ Victory Grand Designs is mostly found in the AWARENESS part of the journey. Ever feel like life is a mass-produced version of what it could be? So much style without substance. So much noise without meaning. So many people going through the motions… and calling it living. That’s the trap. The “run-of-the-mill.” But every once in a while, something—or someone—breaks through. Something rare. Something intentional. Something operating at a different level. That’s Point 8. It’s not about being better than everyone else. It's about refusing to live life in the margins of the lowest common denominator. It starts with recognizing the difference between: 🔸Following the crowd... and thinking for yourself 🔸Doing what’s expected... and doing what actually matters 🔸Settling for average... and building something intentional The truth is, most people never question the pattern. They inherit it. They repeat it. They defend it. Point 8 lives differently. It swims against the stream. It challenges the default. It builds with purpose — not just appearance. 💡 Challenge: 1️⃣ Look at one area of your life where you’ve been operating on default. 2️⃣ Where have you been blending in instead of standing out? 3️⃣ Make one move today — even a small one — that aligns with who you actually want to become. Because a mass-produced life will never create a rare result. And Point 8… is rare by design. This is where you wake up...This is where you start.

@April Cookson Very true. It can be so easy to get lulled into thinking that what you're doing is really living, but when you look deeper, it is barely existing.
