My network built my design business.
How much of your business came from people you already knew? I'm genuinely curious how common this actually is.

@Maren Bruun word of mouth is powerful! 🔥
This is ONLY for people who are looking for business PROFIT! 💸
Seriously, if you don't give any thought to actually turning a profit in your business, this post probably won't hit you where it matters. (ok... I'll lighten up... everyone should read 😁) So here's the challenge that I see way too often... Most people treat profit like a reward. Something that might happen if everything goes right. Something you “get to” after the grind, the growth, the chaos. That’s the game that the uninitiated play. At Point 8, we don’t hope for profit… We help our clients build for it from the start. Because profit isn’t a goal. It’s the standard. 🔹If it’s not profitable, it’s not working. 🔹If it’s not working, we don’t scale it. 🔹If we don’t scale it, we don’t waste time pretending it will magically improve. This is where most businesses bleed Not from lack of effort... But from tolerating models that were never designed to win. Point 8 operators don’t chase outcomes. They implement Profit Acceleration Systems into their business so profit becomes the default. Let’s get real for a second: 👉 Are you currently building for profit or hoping profit shows up? Let's see your answers to the Poll and your questions in the comments 👇

I've been a designer for a long time and I'm still bad at estimating projects. Sometimes I underestimate and end up working for free. Other times I overestimate and feel guilty when my time spent was minimal. Somehow it all balances out and there is some profit in the end.

@Brennan Thompson These are things I am implementing now. Never too late to make improvements.
Building Emotional Strength - Emotion Detector
Point 8 Mindset Series: The Soundtrack of Reinvention — Emotion Detector Awareness ➡️ Disruption ➡️ Adaptation ➡️ Alignment ➡️ Momentum ➡️ Victory After disruption and adaptation, we start to move towards ALIGNMENT. Alignment is a process. It is not a "one and done" scenario and it must start by looking inward...right where discovery starts, buried deep in our hearts. At some point, you stop blaming the outside. And you start looking inward. Not at your results. Not at your circumstances. At your reactions. 🔹Your triggers. 🔹Your insecurities. 🔹Your need for approval. 🔹Your resistance to the truth. That’s where it gets real. Because it’s easy to stay “in control” When you never lift the lid. But the moment you do... you begin to see the cracks. 👉 The need to be validated 👉 The fear of being exposed 👉 The tendency to protect instead of grow And most people... close the lid right back up. Point 8 doesn’t. Even when it’s uncomfortable. Even when it challenges your identity. Even when it reveals things you’d rather ignore... Point 8 looks inside anyway. Because buried under all of that? Is clarity. 💡 Truth: 💥If you need constant approval, criticism will feel like an attack. 💥If you avoid discomfort, growth will always feel out of reach. But when you learn to sit with your emotions — without reacting, without deflecting... You start to understand them. And when you understand them? You stop being controlled by them. 👉 You lead yourself first 👉 You respond instead of react 👉 You move by choose instead of by default That’s the shift. 💡 Challenge: 1️⃣ Where are you avoiding emotional honesty? 2️⃣ What are you feeling… that you haven’t named yet? 3️⃣ Sit with it today. Don’t fix it. Don’t spin it... JUST SEE IT. Because awareness isn’t weakness. It’s power. This is how you get... "Right to the heart of the matter. Right to the beautiful part."

As I find myself navigating corporate documentation and transferring legal entities, the anxiety of messing up can be overwhelming. My artist brain isn't wired to understand this stuff quickly, but I push through.

Crazy Ruckus — and STOP Assuming the Worst
I was speaking to my friend, Crazy Ruckus this morning and here’s part of our conversation: Me: Aren’t you going to work today? Crazy Ruckus: I left my job yesterday. I couldn’t work for that man after what he said to me. Me: What did he say to you? Crazy Ruckus: You’re fired. Me: 🤔 Hmmm? In other news... NOW on to your assumptions “Your prospect isn’t dodging you—they’re just drowning in everything else.” This is called Fundamental Attribution Error. We assume people’s actions are about them, not about the chaos around them. Your prospect isn’t ghosting you because they’re lazy or shady. They could be: 👉 Busy 👉 Overwhelmed 👉 Dealing with life stuff 👉 Struggling to make a decision Instead of sending the passive-aggressive email chain of doom, assume they’re busy. Something like: "Just checking in—I know things are hectic. I’ve got a couple new ideas since we last talked. When’s a good time to reconnect?" Your stress drops. Your relationships improve. And your deals close more often. Be kind. Especially to yourself. Now go pick up the phone and be of service to someone!!

Are You A SMOVER?
A SMOVER is someone who SMILES & MOVES. Simple... but not easy. And definitely not common. I remember the first time I was introduced to Sam Parker and the Smover Movement. I was hooked immediately and started sharing the idea team by team, throughout my company. And then company to company. As far and wide as I could. The idea is complete without being complex. It’s one of those ideas that, once you see it, you can’t unsee it. And you start noticing everywhere people are... or aren’t... showing up this way. Sam shares a story about his daughters running a lemonade stand during a city-wide event raising money for cancer research. On the surface, everything looked great—they were there, participating, doing the “right” thing. But when he watched how they interacted with customers, something was missing. Low energy. Minimal engagement. Just going through the motions. So he stepped in to coach them... and got the classic pre-teen eye roll. Because in their minds, they were already doing enough. They were there to get their required community service hours for school. (And yes... maybe to raise money for a good cause.) But here’s where the lesson hits... Those customers didn’t have to stop. They weren’t obligated to buy lemonade. There were stands all over the city. They chose that stand. Which means... The girls weren't doing the customers a favor by selling lemonade. The customers were doing them a favor by choosing them. That’s the shift, isn't it? Whether you’re an entrepreneur... part of a team... leading a business... or simply showing up in your relationships... 👉 The opportunity to serve is never an obligation. 👉 It’s always an invitation. 👉 And it’s a gift. So the question becomes: How are you showing up when the opportunity arrives? How To SMILE: ⏰Wake Up ~ Be attentive and engaged 🎁Be Thankful ~ The opportunity to serve is a gift 🤗Be Approachable ~ It attracts and invites opportunity 🚫Complain Less ~ Being positive is more fun 😀Smile, REALLY
