Another day at the baseball tournament. We’re about to play our last pool play game to determine position for playoffs tomorrow. We’ve won their first three games by a lot. Fourth game is expected to be against a very good team. Went for another linen and suede accents today. Details on it later.

We are typically and informally asked to dress in black for this service. These photos were taken just outside the church in the twilight after the service so the detail is not as great as I would like. My bowler, db jacket, trousers, shirt and shoes are all black. My tie is a black and grey western style tie from Austin accsssories, my pocket square is black and grey stripes as are my socks. So I just added some grey to the over all black.

Here you can see the 4 suits I have worn during the week, (and my daughters Cinderella Dress for book week). After I wear a suit I take it off almost as soon as I get home to hang it here in the Laundry. On Sunday I will grab the big Garment Steamer you can see in the closet. Each suit will get a complete steam clean and then hang again for another hour, to make sure it’s dry, and be put back into my cupboard. This helps to reduce how often I will have to take it to the Dry Cleaners. I do hope this helps others with ideas about maintaining clothes.

Black is a fringe color. In many ways it’s akin to wearing a pale green suit- but in reverse. Perhaps There seems to be some confusion about its use as though it’s an essential conservative color in suiting. While that is true for tuxedos and a color to wear to a funeral, in virtually any other circumstance it’s the opposite of conservative. It’s a bold stand-out statement. Unless you are in an environment where a black suit for funerals is required it should be way down the list of essential purchases. The order (for suits) instead should be tiered as follows A. Charcoal Grey/ Navy/lighter grey B. Tans/browns/olives C Black/ burgundy’s etc In most cases a charcoal suit can supplant a black suit and since it is the most versatile color that exists, it has infinitely more uses than a black. Because of black’s stark boldness it should be thought of as a fringe bold color in either suiting or certain accessories. That all said-I can think of no other day in the year that represents more boldness than Good Friday. The 4*6 foot oil painting in my home office representing that very day has an interesting backstory but the short version is that it was painted by a cousin and it hung at the front of the church I attended with my grandparents throughout my entire childhood. The use of cocktail event is a very loose interpretation to take turned out to be Nibble, Beer, wine and digesting (Soda for you in the US). I realised at 1100 today I had picked up a French cuff shirt and didn’t bring any cuf links, so I to the 10 minute stroll to the city to purchase a nice set of Silver Square links, I figured I might as well get something I will use again rather than subtitling I will wear once and never again. It started 90 mins after the masterclasses finished, I did receive quite a few compliments on my outfit. I based it off the attached photo of Michael B Jordan, though a more muted colour as I am not the biggest fan of bright coloured suits. This evenings outfit consisted of; M.J.
