Feature requests?
Hey guys, wanted to get some thoughts on how we could make this group (both free and paid membership) even better value for everyone. Post your ideas/requests below, and drop a like on the requests you like the most! Some prompts: - What could we START doing that we’re not already doing? - What could we do MORE of? - What features would you like to see added? - What do you get the most value from right now, and how could we make it even better? Obviously can’t make any promises in terms of following through on every suggestion, but I can promise that your suggestions will all be considered and we heavily weight user feedback when thinking about improvements.

How about a tab to the right of the About tab with just a little information about each mentor, including what made him/her become a mentor on Mastering.com? Informational eye candy for both paid and unpaid subscribers.
Look What I Found! What Do You Use Now?
Doing a well needed clear-out and found this. I was introduced to Cool Edit Pro at the start of my brief stint as a broadcast assistant, back in the day. It was a brilliant, really easy to use. I continued using it as my go-to editing software after Adobe bought it in the early 2000s and changed its name to Audition, up until the beginning of this year; the CC subscription became a "want", a rather expensive one and, unfortunately, Audition is a part of it. Which audio editing software do you currently use? Or do you just use your DAW?

@Slick J This conversation has prompted action; I'm testing Audacity. Update: for free, it's not bad at all as quick audio editing tool. I'm keeping it!

@Seth Jackson I know of CD Wave. What do you use now?
Next PC Laptop for Pro Tools?
So, I am going to need to replace my everyday computer with the one I've been using for music production, which means I need to upgrade my music computer. Currently using a Dell Inspiron 15 w/1TB memory and 16gb RAM. Interface is an older Focusrite Scarlett. I've had minimal issues, but occasional freezeups. I'm looking at ASUS (Tuf, perhaps) and plan to bump up the RAM. My questions are: 1. How important is the model, and the processor? I read that Pro Tools does not support AMD processors, so will probably go with Intel. 2. How much difference would a desktop with the same specs make?

@Carolyn Rodea "I have a fear of commitment on my active tracks" There I was thinking I'm the only one with [track] commitment fears. I'm seriously trying to shake it.

@Carolyn Rodea I've begun track commitment fear therapy. Two days ago, I started a project, using VST instruments, which I would eventually freeze. Today, even though I'm not done, my project window is free from anything to do with MIDI; every track, apart from the group busses, is audio. I just rendered and moved on. Not only does it feel liberating to overcome that fear, my computer's CPU is loving it! One of the main things that made me decide to 'seek' therapy is this: when I do eventually get mixing jobs, clients won't be sending me frozen tracks or MIDI files.
What's your DAW?
What DAWs is everyone using and why did you choose that particular one or more? Mine is Steinberg Nuendo 4.3. I also just got FL Studio.

Just a heads-up, @Massimo Pontoriero (and anyone else that recently upgraded from CB14 or 15.0.10): The most recent upgrade – x.x.20 – is quite buggy, according to many users on the Steinberg forum. So If you've already purchased the most recent upgrade but haven't yet installed it, I'd probably wait a while. Seems to be a lot to do with presets (even factory presets).

@Massimo Pontoriero "so you need to copy/paste those files" Are you talking about presets relating to things like the Project Logical Editor, Transformer, etc? That's interesting. I had no idea it was a manual re-importing of presets where Windows is concerned. Wow... that must be so frustrating! I created a preset almost 3 years ago for the Project Logical Editor, just to test it; I used it once and never used it again. I just now clicked on Apply Preset under Project Logical Editor and... it's still there.

Thanks, Brian; I will try it out. There's not a lot, if anything at all, that Steinberg does badly. Downloaded.
