Please share an "aha moment"
Can you share a technique or concept that you have learned from Professor James that has made a huge impact in your jiu jitsu or your thinking about jiu jitsu? I have 3 that I will share but first I want to hear what others in the group have. Thank you

How when you break the guard you don’t place your knee directly in Uke’s tailbone but rather blocking Uke’s butt-cheek. Small detail, but very significant.
Control
Which technique gives you more control from top positions and why?

So based on the details “hold…[them] down”, I’m gonna say leg ride (though my knee-jerk response is head control).
Dream private lesson
If you could have a private lesson with anyone alive or dead, who would it be? You get a 2 hour lesson and lunch afterward. Pick one or add yours in the comments.

Full tranparency - from that list, I'd pick Rickson. I am blessed to have had multiple lessons with master Pedro Sauer. Blows my mind everytime. My bucket list is to roll 1 light, friendly round with Rickson. Just to feel JiuJitsu directly from him, once. Will probably never happen (Master Rickson doesn't know me from Adam) - but a man can dream :)

I have not. I would like to reserve funds for both travel and at least 2 hours with him, but this is going to require some careful planning on my part. Never been to California, so if I go I need to get my wife on board so that we can also enjoy the beautiful state of California a bit while there :)
An answer from Saturday's Q&A session.
There are several basic techniques that many people say never work. I have really enjoyed learning details that dramatically improve the effectiveness of these techniques. Opening the legs from closed guard.(sport)

I never realized you don't put your knee in the tail-bone, but in the but cheek. small, but insanely important detail! Thank you!
A private lesson clip about the hip escape
Here is a clip about moving your hip escape frame while under side control. Thank you for sharing Rico🙏 Look forward to learning more in tomorrow's Q&A sessions.

So don’t shrimp so far that I lose my kickstand before I can reset. That’s gold! Incredibly important detail. Thank you!
