Marketing fundamentals in a few clicks
A minute of nostalgia. Everybody who has had a marketing course during their education will definitely recognize the BCG (Boston Consulting Group) Matrix. Although this concept emerged in the last century, it remains an extremely useful tool for portfolio development. The Momentum Matrix in KDP Sales Analyzer classifies each active book in your catalog into one of four quadrants based on market growth rate and relative market share β€” helping you decide where to invest, scale, or cut. Here's how each quadrant maps to a books portfolio: - Leaders (High Growth / High Volume) β€” bestselling titles in trending niches; double down with sequels, series, or companion workbooks - Cash Cows (Low Growth / High Volume) β€” evergreen titles with steady sales; milk them for revenue to fund new launches without heavy reinvestment - Breakouts (High Growth / Low Volume) β€” new books in fast-growing niches; test with ads and optimize listings to see if they can become Stars - Dogs (Low Growth / Low Volume) β€” underperforming titles in stale niches; stop promoting to free up resources The core strategic value is reallocation of effort: Cash Cows fund the promotion of Breakouts and Stars, while Dogs are deprioritized. For a KDP publisher, this means your back catalog essentially finances your next profitable niche launches β€” turning your portfolio into a self-sustaining growth engine. What tools are you using to make decisions on your book portfolio development?

Analyze your sales to find a development direction
A small yet powerful tool was added today to Publisher Tools at RoyaltyGuild.com: KDP Sales Analyzer. KDP Royalty Estimator is good for seeing sales for a period, but it offers very limited options for seeing trends. Publisher Champ is a great solution, but it could be overwhelming with the amount of reports it provides. To make decisions about the development of our portfolios, we need to see the key data and trends. You can visitΒ https://kdpreports.amazon.com/royalties, open Start Date, choose Lifetime, and click the big button Download report on the right. After you save the report file, drop it intoΒ https://royaltyguild.com/tools/sales-analyzer,Β and you will see the most important data in a very intuitive format. The service does not save any data on a server; all data is processed in your browser. And it's free for everybody. Enjoy!

πŸ—¨οΈ AI in Business Show
This is an extremely experimental topic in many ways. First, let me introduce @Evgeny Milrud. He owns and manages a significant regional IT company. A mathematician by training, he is also an exceptional process optimiser. He is now at the stage of starting to write a book for fellow business owners, in which he will share his experience. Usually we privately discuss tools, processes and ideas to implement in our businesses with him almost daily. Yesterday, I decided that it would be valuable to share our conversations to help others optimise their operations. From today onwards, we will discuss all things AI and business in this topic. No plan, no limits, no structure. Everyone is invited, so please feel free to share anything on your mind. This is a chat room, not a formal setting. OK, let's see what happens.

"Amazon Web Services suffered at least two outages in December linked to its own artificial intelligence tools, the Financial Times reported on Thursday, raising fresh questions about the autonomy granted to AI systems operating within critical cloud infrastructure. The more notable incident occurred in mid-December, when AWS engineers allowed Kiro β€” the company's agentic AI coding assistant β€” to carry out changes on a customer-facing system. Rather than applying the intended fix, Kiro decided to "delete and recreate the environment," triggering a 13-hour service interruption, according to four people familiar with the matter cited by the FT. Amazon posted an internal postmortem about the outage, which affected a system that helps customers analyze service costs." Perplexity Discover For almost a year I've had feelings that some Amazon bugs were hardly imaginable in the age of human coders. And now we have confirmation.
