Walk through
Good evening all, so I have a walk through tomorrow that’s 2 acres and wooded. The customer wants it cleared for building a pole barn. They are ok with the trees being pushed to an area. They also want the stumps removed and pushed aside as well. My questions are this: would this 3-4 or 4-5 day job? Second, would having a track loader with forestry mulcher, stump bucket, and a grapple work for what needs done? Thanks in advance

@Jake Starr depending on how you are going to do it 3 to 5 days. To make it look like a professional job push trees down and cut off stumps and haul away if they want. Cut tops off and grind and then stack logs in a nice, neat pile for them out of the way. Much easier for them to cut up to firewood or whatever later. If trees are not to big skid steer will more than likely push them over but if needed use an excavator. I prefer an excavator with a thumb attached lot easier to stack.

Safest trailer to unload equipment from?
Tilt back, over fender drive over. So many options. This good for my 97 Kubuto? I’ve watched videos of people driving them off and it looks like they are gonna tip sometimes. Looking for something safe for a sister and not a monster on the road. Some of these roads are narrow 😂

What Trucks & Trailers ?
Need some help choosing these, i was going to go with the F450 dually diesel and get a gooseneck i heard its easier to drive with the gooseneck. What are you guys currently driving + trailer? I am getting a kubuto 97-3 so it will be heavy, im trying to avoid the cdl route. Does that mean i have to regrade the trailer? I think ill be at about 15k lbs with the mulcher head and tractor.

@James Louros not sire where you are located. I just took mine in Missouri. The class part was online and one day at the training site for the pre trip skills and road driving. Took the actual test in the afternoon and left with Class A. Cost was 1800.00 for course. The company I went through will do out of state licensing as well. You have to get your permit first and have it for 14 days before you can even take the actual skills test

Trail creation
Hey guys, just curious how some of yall price trails? Are you going hourly or by the job? I'd like to stay by the job, I guess I just dont know where to get the pricing from. I know crew day math has to be the starting point, but lets say i've got a client that wants a trail around the perimeter of his 20 acres. Taking into consideration the density, terrain etc, where are the numbers AFTER crew day pricing being justified for cutting trails? Just curious on how I should go about this. I've been trying to price things by acre or job mainly so this is throwing me a bit out of whack. Thanks again

@Kohlton Smith use Onx or other mapping program and map the area and determine how many feet or miles of trails. In Light to medium brush trails go pretty quick but terrain will slow you down. I need a trail job in January on medium brush in steep terrain and cut 2.2 miles in a day and half. Charged two days of mulching. Nice thing about Onx is while mulching you can track and map the trails and see your production in real time to help determine bidding on future projects.
