🚂 When Partner Wrangling Goes Off The Rails...
Peeps can't vet someone's character when they're too busy trying to impress them. I've been guilty early on of walking into coffee dates with a potential partner like I was about to audition for a Broadway show. Stats ready. Case studies loaded. Smile cranked up to an 11. Full song and dance. Basically a one-man circus act... complete with the little hat. And while I was busy juggling flaming batons trying to look impressive... ...the partner was sitting across the table dropping hints like a trail of breadcrumbs that would've told me EVERYTHING I needed to know. The controlling tendencies. The vague, squirmy answers about why their last marketing person "just wasn't a good fit." The way they talked about their audience like a faceless ATM machine instead of actual human beings. It was all RIGHT there. Neon signs. Blinking. But I had my performer hat on... So I missed every single one. I've watched sharp, talented people walk into what looked like a dream deal... ...like a kid on Christmas morning, tearing into that beautifully wrapped box... ...only to find out a few weeks (or months) later there was a dead fish inside. And they missed it because they NEEDED it to work out too badly. That's the thing nobody talks about. It ain't a skills problem. It ain't a strategy problem. It's a stance problem. Investor status isn't something you GET to... It's a stance you come FROM... The moment peeps show up needing the yes like they need oxygen... ...it's like walking into a poker game with their cards facing the wrong way. They've handed over the only thing that actually protects them in a deal. The ability to see clearly. And once that's gone? You're not vetting a partner anymore. You're just crossing your fingers and hoping they're one of the good ones. In your corner, ~ Tony

I wanted to do an auction with a woman I'd previously worked with. She liked the idea and wanted to start the bidding at $5,000. I realized then that it was a big, fat NO. Glad I found that out right away.
NEW: Bank up to $1k - $5,000 commish
Sneak peek... (But it's live right now.) 📰There are now 3 Ronin levels. Our VIP level is Ownership Income Ronin. Where we take over (and own) newsletters, communities and other digital land. One way we do it is with an option agreement. We put down a small option deposit and share revenue 50/50 with the seller until the seller is paid off. Now... We have nearly 100% control... We still get paid 50%... AND... We OWN the digital land afterwards. (We are getting 80% open rates and 10% interested replies with the Cold Email Outreach.) Now you can get paaaaid: 👉$50 a month on the standard level 👉$1,000 a year on the Premium level 👉$5,000 a year on the VIP (Ownership Income Level) Also... Right now... For a short time... I've got the "trial" turned on. Let's hit it Superstar! Rooting For Ya, Travis PS I've got a pilot class of 14 OI Ronin...deals are already being done. I’m looking for 6 more. If you'd like to upgrade your income to Ownership Income...dm me… For the next six OI Ronin Founders… I'll take up to 90% off for ya (depending on your sitch). HMU in the DM. PPS Current Ronin are on the Premium level.

Licensing Opportunity
Hey @Travis Sago, I’d love your perspective on how to structure a licensing deal for a physical product business. I was listening the other day to a podcast where the founder of a US-based company was interviewed, and I thought their business model was great and was something I would like to bring to the Spanish market. They’ve validated the model in the US. They make multiple 7 figures selling serialized stories through snail mail (subscription model). I sent him an email yesterday asking if he would be open to bringing this into the Spanish market, and he replied within 2 hours saying that yes, they had started translating it into Spanish, but other priorities came up. So we’re meeting on Thursday to explore this potential partnership. I’m interested in licensing their IP, content, stories, and creative that are proven to work. They also have great processes, systems, and operations in place. The challenge is that this is a physical business, so margins are tighter: Printing, labor, shipping, etc. Plus customer acquisition (ads, partnerships, create content...) My goal is to structure this in a way where: They get meaningful upside (so it’s worth it for them), but I keep enough margin to operate and grow this new pie. I know when it comes to licensing there are no fixed terms and everything can be negotiated. 👉 How would you think about structuring a deal like this? I would like your take. Appreciate any insight.

@David Botella If it's the podcast I'm thinking of, they literally stuff the envelopes themselves. Could there be any way to systemize it without losing what makes it special? My mind went to Ben Settle's physical newsletter when I saw the video.
I've got blinders on
Hey guys, I’ve got a question. I’m running into a bit of a roadblock. Well, actually just one main thing… How are you guys finding the leads you reach out to with things like CDOD / OG Rule? What’s your SOP or target audience? I keep ending up with names like Jason Fladlien, Jeremy Miner, Cole Gordon, Iman Gadzhi, etc. I do read some books, but they’re usually focused on just one topic… marketing 🙂 So I’m really curious how you go about finding your partners. Do you have a specific niche you focus on, or how do you approach this? There's a researcher prompt in cdod, I'm aware of that, and have used it but like i mentioned.. I feel like I’ve got blinders on, I keep seeing the same types of people and opportunities, and I know there’s way more out there, I just don’t see it yet.

Auction it!!! Here's what I mean... https://www.facebook.com/share/v/18GfxCwuHd/ I'd be down to be on set! But I'd be more excited to talk to Taylor Sheridan. Sorry Jeremy.
